Wow I can't believe school cert was only two weeks ago...seems like it's been forever!
I've been having fun
Well kinda.
Went to Jess' pimp and hoe party!
Haha that was cool.
This sat yvette's having a movie night
Going to go xmas shopping first though...and then maybe we'll bake cookies
Next sat...rez's party.
But before that I have Sydney Girls orientation night on wed
and Sharlene arrives on wed too.
Oh and it was mum's birthday yesterday
My relative's (a guest at our house now) birthday today
and my younger bro's birthday tomorrow.
So I've been busy and will be busy!
I went to a United Nations day forum today...
got to skip school and wear mufti =)
I thought it was really interesting!
Now I'm all motivated to find out more about global affairs.
Plus then I have stuff to back my arguments up with.
Today I represented the Australian government
trying to convince the US government to release two Australians in Guantanamo Bay.
(There were other groups like NGOs and the UN doing that too so it wasn't just us.)
Um I don't think we were very successful cos we had like...
10 min to discuss our plan.
No information.
No experience.
And I discovered how different political debating is to normal debating!
Well I guess I never thought about how there are no ejudicators...
not the tiniest voice of objectivity...
the more powerful party (aka the US) just dominates everything.
And it wasn't helping how I kept forgetting to be diplomatic,
stepping out of persona,
forgetting completely about the free trade agreement
and arguing everything from an ethical point of view.
I nearly offended the US rep (whom we all had to try and negotiate with).
Oh well it was all good fun though.
And right now I'm thinking that for someone as idealistic as me,
maybe the UN is a good place to be cos you play a part in directly changing the world.
Eradicate world hunger!
Educate the children!
Take the gun away from the 8 year old!
Hmm I'm turning into a humanitarian freak...
Anyway, it's back to school tomorrow.
Grading test in math first period...but it doesn't count for me so whatever
I'm not too worried.
I haven't started my economics or english assignment yet
I can't believe we still have homework and tests
We just finished two sets of exams!!
